Youth
and Education ministry is valued highly at
First Lutheran Church. On Sunday mornings
this fall we begin a new approach to Christian
learning for young people of all ages. As
the new rotational style of learning is implemented
for children in kindergarten through fifth
grade, the familiar term ‘Sunday School’
may not encompass all that will take place
on Sunday mornings. We will also have opportunities
for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, middle
school youth, and high school youth. This
is ministry with and for youth. We hope that
the language used will be reflective of the
ministries that are planned for all ages –
infants through high school. When you see
the term ‘Sunday Morning Children’s/Youth
Education Ministry’ know that we plan
to continue to assist you in teaching your
child the Christian faith as Lutherans all
through their youth.
T.R.E.K.
(Teaching, Reaching, Educating, Kids) is the
name of the new Sunday morning rotational-style
ministry for children in Kindergarten through
Fifth Grade. Guided by a shepherd, children
will learn the Bible by experiencing five
different stations – one station each
Sunday. The stations include Storytelling,
Arts and Crafts, Science/Video, Food/Cooking,
and Music and Games. We will experience seven
biblical units or themes during the months
of September through May.

for each unit is available in this edition
of the newsletter or at the church. You may
volunteer as an individual or team up with
a friend, the commitment is normally five
Sundays. What a great way to share your Christian
faith journey and get to know terrific kids
at the same time!
