Confirmation at FLC may look a little
different than in some other congregations. Rather than
two years of classes that meet year-round, we have structured
the Confirmation curriculum so that students attend
subject-oriented classes at specific times of year.
Confirmation learning begins in the spring of 2nd grade
and continues until students are confirmed in the fall
of their 11th grade year.
In our curriculum building, our goals are:
• to involve the whole family – not
just the student
• to tailor the materials
to each grade level’s understanding
•
to provide multimedia and experiential components,
in order to reach
students
who learn in many different ways
• to
give students tangible reminders of God’s
love for them and their place
in
God’s world
• to help families and
the congregation live up to the promises we make
when a child is baptized
•
to build significant relationships between students
and others in the
congregation
• to engage students’ hearts through
servant activities, gift-based projects,
and field trips |
We pray that these experiences will help learners to
grow in grace and maturity – not only during their
time in Confirmation, but throughout their life as followers
of Jesus Christ.

7:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Second Grade with Pastor Nate
“Welcome to the Lord’s Table” Communion
Instruction for youth and parents on Sunday, March 29,
2009, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., and Christian Seder Meal
on Sunday, April 5, 2009, 4:30-6:00 p.m. First Communion
on Maundy Thursday, April 9, 2009, 7:00 p.m. Students
together with parents make Chalices and Patens as a
part of this class.
Third Grade with Pastor Dave
Overview of the Bible Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at
6:30 p.m. for youth and parents. Students receive Bibles
during the 8:00 or 10:00 a.m. service of worship on
August 24, 2008. This class is for students entering
Third Grade in fall of 2008. Family Devotions during
the month of September. Schedule an in-home visit with
a Pastor, or Lay Visitation Coordinator in October.
Fourth Grade with Pastor Nate
Baptism on Wednesday nights (January 7-28, 2009) at
7:00 p.m. Make Baptismal Banners keepsake.
Fifth Grade with Pastor Dave
Stewardship on Wednesday nights (September 10-24, 2008)
at 7:00 p.m. Make Communion Bread.
Sixth Grade with Pastor Nate
Human Sexuality for youth and parents on Wednesday nights
(December 3-17, 2008) at 7:00 p.m.
Seventh Grade
Prayer during the week of Vacation
Bible School (August 4-8, 2008) with Pastor
Dave. This class is for students entering Seventh Grade
in the fall of 2008. Ten Commandments on Wednesday nights
(January 7-28, 2009) at 7:00 p.m. with Linda Weiss.
Apostles’ Creed at Luther Crest Bible Camp (June
14-19, 2009). This class is for students entering Eighth
Grade in the fall of 2009.
Eighth Grade with Pastor Dave

18, 2009) at 7:00 p.m. Class Service Project to be determined.
Ninth Grade with Pastor Nate

Tenth Grade with Pastor Dave

or NOVEMBER 26 (Thanksgiving Eve) Mentor Program (Begins
Fall 2008 and continues…). Mentor Meeting on Wednesday,
December 3, at 8:00 p.m. for youth, their parents and

Eleventh Grade

October 5, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. Sharing of Mentor activities
and class assignments.
Confirmation Sunday on October 26, 2008, at the 10:45
